Giulio studied at University of Florence where he received his Bachelor Degree in Biotechnology working with Prof. Paola Chiarugi studying The role of macrophages in tumour progression.
He then obtained the Master Degree in Chemical Sciences with Prof. Ernesto G. Occhiato working on the Synthesis of heterocyclic compounds by means of gold catalysis.

In 2014, he moved to the University of Milan where he started his PhD project in the Bernardi group focusing on the synthesis of multivalent C-lectins antagonists and sugar nucleotide diphosphate for glycan array generation.

Giulio obtained his PhD in 2017.
