A brief history


On Janaury, 1981, the Italian Society of Phytochemistry (SocietÓ Italiana di Fitochimica) was founded in Milan by a small group of academic and industrial scientists interested in vegetable aspects and in medicinal plant, research and applications.

During the first national congress (Firenze, May, 1982) prof. Paolo Manitto was confirmed President till the end of the year.

In addition to the national Congresses and to the two-year Phytochemical School the Society has organized many Workshops on specific subjects.

The Society has organized jointly with the Society for medicinal Plant Research (GA) the 53░ annual congress of GA in Florence, August 21-25, 2005. The Society has organized jointly with the Phytochemical Society of Europe (PSE) to scientific meeting for joung scientists "Future Trends in Phytochemistry" in Gargnano (lake of Garda, Brescia) May 22-25, 2002 and May 5-8, 2004.
