Do you think that Bourbaki is an invented person? Well, believe me: Bourbaki existed! Recently, I met somebody
from Ait Benhaddou, near Ouarzazate, he told me that a certain N. Bourbaki from the Mathematics Institute of the
University of Nancago was trying to settle down a Summer School in the desert of Sahara.
He told me that Bourbaki found Ait Benhaddou so beautiful that he decided to get retired there in order to
end up his "encyclopedia" of math. However Bourbaki was keen on this project, has been absolutely unable
to write anything for 20 years! At the age of about 98 years he then left Ait Benhaddou to join the tribal beduins
population and he moved to the western Sahara where he died in a battle. He was one of the POLISARIO's most
famous generals, the movement which was an outgrowth of the earlier Saharan Liberation Movement (MLS).
