1989 Milan, secondary school diploma in scientific studies.
1996 University of Milan (Italy), graduated in “Food Science and Technology”. Title of the experimental thesis: “Molecular Ecology of the genus Bacillus and construction of a DNA probe specific for Bacillus cereus by RAPD-PCR”.
2001 University of Milan, PhD title in “Pesticide Chemistry, Biochemistry and Ecology”. Experimental thesis entitled: “Genetically modified plants and microorganisms: studies on the gene transfer to phytopathogen bacteria and on the impact of Bt corn, self-protected against Ostrinia nubilalis, on the microflora of the rhizosphere and of bovine rumen”.

2004 , 2005, 2006 participation to sampling expeditions at the arctic base of the Italian National Research Council in Ny-Ålesund (Spitzbergen islands, Norway).
2007 & 2008 participation to the AT 15-15 and AT15-28 oceanographic cruises of the research vessel Atlantis with the deep submergence vehicle Alvin (dives 4312, 4391).
2008 participation to the BiodesertI sampling expedition in the subsaharian and saharian region (Tunisia) hosted by the Institute Nationale des Regions Arides (Medenine)
